Academics

What Will You Become?

Penn State Abington’s long tradition of academic excellence, investment in student success, and commitment to providing opportunities make it a great place to study, but it is the dedication of our students, faculty, and staff that lead it to be exceptional.

Our students shape their academic and career pursuits by sharing in the passions and talents of the Abington community. Pursuing a degree at Abington means access to faculty experts and state-of-the-art resources that will make an impact on the world. Our students can explore 24 degree programs or begin any of Penn State’s 275+ majors at Abington before transitioning to another Penn State campus.

A Small College Experience at a World Class University

Our academic community helps students build relationships in smaller groups while opening the door to larger opportunities. Students receive individualized attention and interact with faculty who are accomplished in their fields and who take a genuine interest in their future. They can ask questions and participate in discussions and projects. Students at Abington have the same access to Penn State’s global resources as those at University Park and other campuses.

Undergraduate Research

Students who participate in undergraduate research form a rapport with faculty mentors. They become critical thinkers and creative scholars by engaging in scientific experimentation, inquiry-based research, and exploration of the arts through a yearlong research experience within our community of teacher-scholars. Students receive academic credit along with gaining valuable  experience for more advanced levels of scholarly work and for use in future careers.

Abington Honors Program

Honors students join a community of accomplished peers and dedicated faculty at Penn State Abington. Members of the Abington Honors Program enjoy the challenges and opportunities that can help them realize their academic and personal potential.

Select first-year students are invited to participate in the Abington Honors Program based on their academic achievement and potential. They are eligible to receive scholarships, schedule classes before the general student population, enroll in distinctive honors curriculum courses, and take advantage of research, international study, and leadership opportunities.

The Schreyer Honors College is a Penn State University-wide honors program enrolling students of exceptional ability. The core experiences of Schreyer Scholars at Abington include honors coursework and an undergraduate thesis, a major piece of original research or creative activity.

No matter how you learn and work, in whatever discipline you choose, Penn State Abington graduates emerge with a valuable Penn State degree and endless opportunities to explore.
